🚨 Exciting shake-up in the Labour Party! Makerfield’s MP Josh Simons is stepping down, paving the way for Andy Burnham’s return to Parliament and possibly eyeing leadership! 💥
In a heartfelt statement, Simons shared his dedication to serve his constituents but recognised the need for bold change in Westminster. He highlights ongoing local improvements—from flood defences to saving the beloved Ashton Library—but believes more significant transformation is necessary.
🌆 Simons calls for radical reform, frustrated with the current political stagnation. He states, “Westminster and Whitehall often stand in the way of essential change, even as my own party is in power. We need a new direction for our towns.”
🔥🌟 Simons passionately backs Andy Burnham, the popular Mayor of Greater Manchester known for his roots and relentless advocacy for community issues. “Andy is from us and for us. He can drive the change our country is crying out for.”
Simons assures he’s not stepping away entirely. He’ll remain a vocal advocate for local advancements, championing everything from health centres to leisure facilities.
Wes Streeting’s resignation as Health Secretary, citing lost confidence in Keir Starmer, adds to the unfolding drama. 👀
