He was playing with his sister and friends when he suddenly fell awkwardly, leading to a frightening ordeal for his loved ones.
At first, he complained about feeling dizzy and having a leg that felt like “jelly.” Rushed to The Grange Hospital, it seemed like he was on the mend. But then came the frightening twist—Freddie experienced two strokes right in front of his family. 🚨
Immediate action from the incredible doctors and nurses at The Grange and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff ensured Freddie got the care he desperately needed. Blood thinners and intensive monitoring were just the start of his recovery journey. The family faced anxious moments, praying for his artery to heal naturally and bracing for any new developments.
Despite initial fears that he might never walk again, Freddie showed everyone his strength. The little champ embarked on a rigorous rehab programme that included physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and hydrotherapy. With a tenacious spirit and the support of his amazing care team, Freddie started regaining movement. First his leg, then his foot, and slowly, his arm—each step a victory! 🏆
Though Freddie missed his summer holiday, the end of summer saw him back at home, no longer needing a wheelchair. He’s back in the garden kicking a football, and even preparing for a phased return to school. His balance isn’t perfect yet, but his dedication is nothing short of inspirational.
His mum says, “He’s getting better every day. Freddie has always been a hundred miles an hour and we’re still forever telling him to slow down!”
