Football fan Andrew Currie, from Glasgow, won’t be catching any more matches soon—he’s just been slapped with a five-year ban! Currie made the 250-mile trip from Scotland for Wrexham’s Championship clash with Millwall but found himself in hot water after a “disturbance” outside the Ironworks pub. The 29-year-old was arrested for assaulting a 52-year-old man before the game kicked off.

In a swift court appearance, Currie pleaded guilty to the offence at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court and received a football banning order, meaning he’ll have to find something else to do on match days! The game itself saw Millwall secure a 2-0 victory over Wrexham, as the Welsh team suffered a setback with an own goal from defender Max Cleworth. Josh Coburn sealed the win, bolstering Millwall’s playoff hopes.
North Wales Police stressed the importance of good behaviour, with Superintendent Mark Williams affirming a zero-tolerance policy on matchday disorder. Though incidents like these are rare, authorities are keen to ensure that fans enjoy the beautiful game in a safe and respectful environment.

Meanwhile, Wrexham continues to battle for a playoff spot, sitting just two places behind Millwall. With tension building and the potential for another face-off in the playoffs, fans are hopeful for a chance at redemption. Stay tuned for more updates as the football season heats up! ⚽️🔥
