**Fire Ignites on Iconic Welsh Beach Due to ‘Absolute Stupidity’**

Over the weekend, blazes sparked up on the beautiful Traeth Llanddwyn beach, much to locals’ dismay. Visitors are setting up fires despite strict bans, raising concerns that embers could ignite nearby Newborough Forest. With 2,500 acres of rich woodland and precious wildlife, including red squirrels, at risk, locals are worried about potential disasters.

“Fire in the dunes with chilly winds? Absolute madness,” one local exclaimed, highlighting the sheer disregard for safety. Llanddwyn and the forest have become social media darlings, but this popularity has brought challenges, including flouting of rules around fires and camping.

To tackle these issues, Natural Resources Wales is rolling out a new no-barrier parking system starting 30 March. Cracking down on overnight parking offenders, fines will be issued to deter rogue campers and ensure safety for everyone. Last year’s warm season saw an influx of overnight campers and fires, prompting tighter measures.
Amid these safety steps, the idea of “post-Covid tourist disease” has surfaced among locals, lamenting that visitors seem to leave a fiery trail wherever they go. Traffic congestion and parking woes are also in the spotlight, but the upcoming changes aim to keep things smoother for both locals and visitors.
Let’s all do our part to preserve these stunning natural reserves, so future generations can enjoy them too! 🌲🔥🏖️ #ProtectOurBeaches #NatureFirst
