**Food Critic Targeted by Drunken Outburst During Wetherspoon Breakfast Challenge in Gloucester**

A morning intended for a light-hearted food review took an unpleasant turn when a TikTok food critic faced verbal abuse from a disgruntled pub customer in Gloucester. The incident unfolded on 19 May at The Regal Wetherspoon pub, where Becca Stock, a well-known online food reviewer, set out to sample nearly the entirety of the venue’s breakfast menu for her popular social media channel.

Stock, whose TikTok presence under the name @beccaeatseverything has garnered enthusiastic followers, was midway through a rigorous 20-plate tasting challenge when events took an unexpected and distasteful turn. As she worked through her third plate, accompanied by her fiancé who was helping film the review, an elderly man approached their table, allegedly having consumed several drinks, and began berating Stock, loudly calling her a “disgusting piglet” and lamenting that her performance was “absolutely disgusting”. The comments were caught on video and later circulated on social media, quickly attracting public attention.
Visibly shaken yet refusing to back down, Stock challenged the man to justify his comments. The confrontation escalated as she labelled her verbal assailant “a disgusting human being” and “the worst person I’ve ever come across”. According to Stock, the staff at The Regal responded swiftly to the disturbance: a worker informed the manager, who then instructed the abusive customer to finish his drink and vacate the premises. He left shortly afterwards, leaving behind a room divided by the incident.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Stock described how the outburst briefly rattled her nerves but insisted she would not be intimidated. “My adrenaline was high and my heart was beating out of my chest. I couldn’t believe what was happening in front of so many people,” she recalled. Stock emphasised that while she is accustomed to dealing with negativity online, such a direct and personal attack in public was unprecedented and left her visibly unsettled.
The food reviewer, who lives locally, suspected the man’s intention was unclear—wondering aloud whether he objected to the sheer amount of food being consumed, was concerned about potential waste, or simply took issue with the concept of influencer culture. “He never explained his reasoning. He was simply abusive and apparently intoxicated,” Stock said.
Stock made it clear that she strives to minimise food wastage wherever possible. “We brought plastic tubs from Tesco so anything we couldn’t eat at the pub, we took home to share with family pets and to give to wildlife,” she explained. “I don’t like to leave food behind, but reviewing means sometimes you have to order more than you can finish.” She affirmed that her activities are her own business. “Everyone has their own views, but there’s never a justification for harassment,” she stated.
The video of the confrontation has since garnered over three million views, with reactions spanning support for Stock’s poised response and criticism aimed at influencer culture in general. Comments ranged from praise—“You handled that brilliantly!”—to scepticism about filming such reviews in public dining areas. Stock responded to detractors by pointing out the value and effort involved in creating content, remarking, “If you don’t like influencers, maybe social media isn’t for you.”
No police report was filed over the incident, but Stock publicly thanked The Regal’s staff for their support and decisive handling of the situation, noting her disappointment that the man’s face was not captured on film. Wetherspoon declined to comment on the matter when contacted by journalists.
The episode highlights both the visibility public figures face while working and the polarised views of social media influence—debates that show little sign of abating as digital content-creation grows ever more pervasive in daily life. Whilst Stock’s experience has opened discussions about food review ethics and influencer responsibilities, it has also prompted broader conversations on respect, personal space, and the appropriate conduct of patrons in public spaces.
