🚨 A suspended police officer from Gwent has been caught in a web of lies to secure not one, but two new jobs. PC Luke Silver has made headlines after a misconduct hearing revealed he faked references and lied about resigning from Gwent Police while actually being suspended.

The hearing, led by Assistant Chief Constable Nicholas McLain, outlined six major allegations against him. Despite being off duty for unrelated reasons, Silver sought employment with Waste Investigation Support Enforcement (WISE) and later with Pembrokeshire Council without notifying his current employer. To make matters worse, he used his wife’s maiden name as a phoney reference and concocted fictitious referees for job applications.

Silver had already faced and been cleared of charges relating to inappropriate remarks, but his deception regarding employment has landed him in hot water. The hearing found gross misconduct, emphasizing the severe breach of trust and integrity expected from police officers. Silver is now set to be added to the police barred list, ensuring he cannot serve in any future policing role.
The outcome? His actions have resulted in immediate dismissal. Gwent Police assures the public that such behaviour won’t be tolerated, reiterating their commitment to upholding the highest standards. The overwhelming majority of their officers strive to protect and serve with honour, upholding the trust placed in the policing profession. 🛡️
