Jonathan, now 23, was travelling from Doncaster to London when the nightmare unfolded. “I was just sitting on the train, chilling, and then suddenly, someone came over my shoulder and stabbed me,” he recounted in a gripping interview with the BBC. In the frantic moments that followed, a courageous Jonathan ran, alerting fellow passengers to the danger after feeling the sharp pain of being stabbed first in the shoulder. His quick thinking had him dashing through carriages and pulling the alarm, all while drenched in blood.

Despite the horror of that day, Jonathan’s focus remains on his passion—football. Released by Scunthorpe and having completed a loan at Bottesford Town, he is determined to get back on the pitch. “Thank God I’m alive,” he reflected. “I can’t look back, just got to move on and focus on getting back into football.”

The man accused of the attack, Anthony Williams, 32, is facing multiple counts of attempted murder and will be standing trial later this year.

This brave young man’s story of survival and resilience is a heartfelt reminder of the strength it takes to face adversity head-on. Wishing Jonathan all the best as he aims to kick-start his football career again! ⚽❤️ Stay safe, everyone!
