From rugby star to a shocking crime – Movado Hall, once celebrated for leading Cardiff Schools onto the prestigious Principality Stadium, now finds himself behind bars. Just 18 years old, Hall has been sentenced to two years and nine months in a young offenders’ institute for a horrifying machete attack.

The court heard that Hall threw a brick through Jason Talbot’s car window and, when confronted, he brandished a machete, injuring both Jason and his father, Jonathan, who tried to step in. Injuries were severe, with Jason suffering a head fracture needing staples, while Jonathan sustained a deep shin cut.

It’s a tragic fall from grace for Hall, who as a young teen spoke passionately about rugby keeping him focused and away from trouble. In a previous interview, Hall’s mother praised rugby for turning his life around, saying it provided discipline and camaraderie. Hall himself once preferred the rugby field to the street, cherishing the brotherhood and challenges the sport offered.
However, Hall’s actions highlight a darker side, overshadowing the promise he once showed on the pitch. With a five-year restraining order now in place, this story serves as a stark reminder of how quickly life’s trajectory can change.
Let’s hope Hall finds a way back to the better path once he’s served his time. Rugby gave him purpose before; perhaps it could again.
