Guess who’s dusting off his boots! Former Wales hooker Scott Baldwin is making a surprise return to the pitch. At 37 and after hanging up his boots in 2023, Baldwin has named himself on the bench for Bridgend Ravens in their Super Rygbi Cymru Cup showdown against Swansea tonight.

Having coached the Ravens since 2024, Baldwin is stepping back into action at Broadacre for the final Pool B SRC Cup match. It’s not just about keeping the bench warm—this is a match where both coaches, including Swansea’s Joe Thomas, might join the fray.

Why is this match a big deal? Both teams have already secured spots in the plate semi-finals, but the real prize is a home semi-final for tonight’s victor. The Ravens have a strong lineup with starting hooker Corey Lewis and centre Ryan Wilkins back in action. Scrum-half Harvey Nash is set for his 50th club appearance, and Cody-Ray David might debut.

Baldwin, who earned 37 caps for Wales and saw his career span stints with Ospreys, Harlequins, and Worcester Warriors, shifted to coaching after wrapping up his playing days with 200+ senior games.
It remains to be seen if this is a one-off cameo or a hint at more playing time. Earlier, Baldwin participated in the unique 745 charity game at Kingsholm, showcasing a hybrid of rugby league and rugby union.
Rugby fans, what do you think of Baldwin’s return? Could this ignite more comebacks, or is it just a nostalgic nod to his passion for the game? Share your thoughts and cheer for the Ravens! 🏉🔥
