Imagine this: a simple evening trip to find a lost doll turns into a 15-hour ordeal in a police cell. That’s exactly what happened to 79-year-old Bobby Carmichael from Beaumont Leys, Leicester. He and his friend had their world turned upside down when she stumbled upon a body in Castle Gardens.

Both Bobby and his friend were arrested on suspicion of murder, only to later find out the man had passed away from natural causes. Talk about a plot twist! The baffling incident kicked off when Bobby’s friend went doll-hunting in the park and ended up discovering the body. Unbeknownst to them, this led to a full-fledged murder inquiry and police cordons all around.

“I waited in the car while she looked,” Bobby shared. “She found what she was looking for, but also found something she definitely wasn’t expecting—a body!” Minutes later, Bobby found himself whisked away by the police, missing his TV time, for what turned out to be a colossal misunderstanding.

A post-mortem revealed the real cause of death—a medical episode, leading to their release without charge. But for Bobby, the damage was done. “Fifteen hours and all I got was an apology. It’s a disgrace,” he expressed, still upset by the ordeal and how it was handled.
While the police conducted everything by the book, following procedures based on the information they had, it doesn’t change the ‘nightmare’ experience for Bobby. Thankfully, they’re back home safe, but it’s a reminder of how quickly life can take wild turns.
