🥊 Former Boxer’s Shock Turn to Crime Lands Him £1 Penalty! 🥊

Leon Coker, 34, once known in the ring, found himself on a very different path. After giving up boxing, he got mixed up in the world of drugs, dabbling in both amphetamine and cocaine. Despite raking in over £42,000 from his illicit activities, a court astonishingly ruled that he only needs to pay back £1.

Coker was nabbed when police pulled over his black Audi in July 2024 for an unrelated issue. Investigators discovered incriminating messages and videos on his phone showing white powder packed in a suitcase. A later search of his home unearthed residual amphetamine and traces of cocaine on weighing scales.

In court, Coker confessed to his involvement in drug supply but claimed he was merely holding a suitcase for others, denying being a big-time dealer. He argued his situation stemmed from vulnerability and owing money, rather than a criminal lifestyle. His defence highlighted his efforts towards rehabilitation with support from a local church.
Coker was sentenced to nearly five years behind bars last year. During a recent Proceeds of Crime hearing, the court found he had financially benefited from his crimes but had no assets to seize, leading to the symbolic £1 repayment order.
The story of how a promising athlete’s life spiralled into crime serves as a stark reminder of the challenges of life after sport and the vulnerability to undue influences.
