🎉 Exciting news from Merthyr Tydfil! 🎉
Meet Councillor David Isaac, the new mayor for 2026-27! With a rich history of service, David, a former paramedic and long-standing Penydarren ward councillor since 2012, is set to lead the community with pride and dedication. 🌟
David’s no stranger to the role—he previously served as mayor in 2015-16. He’s all geared up to serve the community once more, bringing experience and passion to the position. His responsibilities will include chairing council meetings, representing Merthyr Tydfil at various events, and supporting local causes.
Speaking of causes, David has chosen two fantastic charities to support during his tenure: Hope Rescue, which looks after stray dogs in the area, and Merthyr Tydfil Mind, focusing on mental health and wellbeing. 🐾❤️
David extends heartfelt thanks to outgoing mayor Councillor Paula Layton and her consort Councillor Declan Sammon for their amazing work this past year. He acknowledges Paula’s high standard, especially in fundraising, and looks to continue her legacy of community dedication.
He’s also expressed gratitude to his family and colleagues, saying: “I look forward to the year ahead and to serving the people of Merthyr Tydfil with dedication, integrity, and pride.”
Join us in wishing Mayor David Isaac all the best as he embarks on this exciting journey, and keep an eye out for all the wonderful things he’ll achieve for Merthyr Tydfil! 🎈👏
