🚨 Dramatic Scene as Burning Furniture Flies from Cardiff Flats! 🚒

Cardiff was hit by a dramatic fire incident at Lydstep Crescent, Gabalfa. Residents watched in shock as burning furniture, including a mattress, was hurled from a third-floor window, billowing smoke through the air.

The emergency services responded swiftly with four fire engines, police, and paramedics arriving to tackle the blaze. The fire, which reportedly started in a bedroom, was quickly extinguished by the heroic crew using extinguishers, hose reel jets, and breathing apparatus. Thankfully, a mother and her two children, who were in the flat at the time, were treated at the scene and appear to be fine.
In a building where alarms remained silent, neighbours proved to be lifesavers, alerting each other to the danger and ensuring evacuations took place. A local social media post addressed resident concerns by explaining that the building’s “stay put” policy means alarms are only activated as necessary. An investigation into the incident is underway, and reassurances have been given that the building’s safety systems, including sprinklers, will be reviewed.
A big shout-out to our incredible emergency services and vigilant residents for their swift actions in keeping everyone safe. 🙌
