Gary Lineker has had his final say on love and romance, declaring that he’s officially “done” with dating. The former Match of the Day host and football legend has become quite comfortable flying solo, revealing he’s too set in his ways to share his home with anyone new. Speaking candidly on Louis Theroux’s podcast, Lineker shared: “I like being on my own. I’ve got so accustomed to it now.” Instead, he’s happily surrounded by his sons and his beloved dog.

Lineker, who has been married twice, admits that it would be a challenge to imagine living with someone again, admitting: “You get to a certain age where it’s so much effort.” But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love women’s company β just ask his friends who join him for dinner.

Following his career shift from the BBC, Lineker’s now exploring new ventures during the World Cup in North America with a daily TV show on Netflix, but he’s not entirely sure what to make of the tournament’s political backdrop. Yet, ever the football enthusiast, he’s keen to focus on the game, saying: “In terms of football, I’m looking forward to it.”
Despite leaving his role on Match of the Day, Lineker reflects on his long tenure with the BBC as a meaningful chapter, even if things ended on a slightly controversial note. He remains on great terms with his ex-wife Danielle Bux, showing that his amicable spirit extends beyond the football pitch.
