🌊 Thousands Rally for Monmouth Flood Relief! 🌊
The community spirit is alive and well in Monmouth as generous donations pour in to support residents hit by the catastrophic floods caused by Storm Claudia. Spearheaded by Mayor Jackie Atkin, a fundraising initiative aims to bring much-needed relief to those affected. 🏘️
“The need is huge,” says Mayor Atkin, and thanks to the overwhelming support, the initial goal of £5,000 has already been surpassed! With a new target set at £25,000, the aim is to extend even more support to businesses, community groups, and residents in desperate need. 🌟
Overnight devastation saw homes and businesses engulfed by floodwaters, prompting evacuations and leaving many across Monmouth and surrounding areas in turmoil. The response, however, has echoed the town’s resilience and unity. 👐
🙏 From Monmouth’s heart: A heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have donated. “Your kindness and compassion mean the world at this challenging time,” the Mayor shared. An anonymous £1,000 donation kicked off the much-needed relief fund, and by Sunday afternoon, an incredible £20,000 had been raised! 💪
Support continues on the ground with Monmouthshire County Council teams actively assessing damage and offering practical help. Monmouth Leisure Centre and the Methodist Church have opened their doors to provide a warm, safe space for those needing shelter or a hot drink. 🏠☕
If you’re in need of urgent assistance or have been displaced, please contact the local authorities for coordinated support and welfare checks. Every effort is being made to ensure safety and provide immediate aid. 🤝
Let’s keep this momentum going and show that collective compassion can turn the tide in Monmouth’s recovery journey! To donate and make a difference, check out the fundraising page. 🌈💖 #MonmouthStrong #CommunitySpirit #FloodRelief
