Rory McIlroy had a rollercoaster weekend at the PGA Championship, ultimately losing out on a chunk of his prize money due to tax deductions. After finishing tied for 7th at Aronimink Golf Club alongside Cameron Smith and Xander Schauffele, the Northern Irish golf star will have to wave goodbye to more than £240,000, thanks to US tax laws.

Despite his solid performance, Rory’s weekend was also marred by a heated exchange with a spectator on the course. His third shot on the par-five 16th landed in a bunker after some unwelcome comments from the crowd. McIlroy didn’t hold back, telling the spectator to “shut the f*** up” before calling in security. Talk about drama on the green!
However, Rory didn’t let the frustration dampen his sportsmanship. He gracefully congratulated winner Aaron Rai, who sank an incredible 68-foot birdie putt on the 17th, clinching his first major title. Rory remarked, “You won’t find one person on property who’s not happy for him.”

Now, Rory’s taking a well-deserved break from tournaments, skipping The CJ Cup Byron Nelson. “Yeah, I’m going to take a couple weeks off, and then Memorial will be my next one,” McIlroy said.
What a whirlwind! Here’s hoping a bit of downtime helps him recharge for the exciting matches ahead. 🏌️♂️⛳
