Head of Welsh Political Party Resigns Abruptly Ahead of Pending Senedd Elections

Big changes are ahead for the Reform UK party as Stuart Marchant, Chair of the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire branch, has stepped down just months before the crucial Senedd elections in May. Marchant, who took charge in 2025, has been a dynamic figure for the party, having stood in the 2024 General Election for the Mid and South Pembrokeshire constituency. Despite securing nearly 8,000 votes and finishing third, Marchant has decided it’s time to pass the baton.

In his heartfelt statement, Marchant expressed deep regret over his decision, admitting that balancing the demands of leading the branch with personal and professional commitments has become too challenging. “The role deserves full attention and energy,” he stated, acknowledging that currently, he cannot give his all to the mission.

Marchant’s journey with Reform UK began when he formed the local branch in September 2024, motivated by his general election experience. His leadership saw the branch grow and thrive, which is why his departure is bittersweet. Yet, he’s hopeful for the branch’s future, confident that new leadership will continue the progress made.
