Heads up, folks! 🌧️ North Wales is gearing up for Storm Goretti, bringing a mix of snow, ice, and chilly temperatures. The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has declared a “critical incident” due to the looming weather challenges. They’ve got a plan in place to support everyone – patients, staff, and healthcare services – during this frosty period.

The Met Office has rolled out yellow weather warnings, forecasting snow and ice, especially in elevated areas, with up to 20cm of snow in some spots. Our hospitals are already swamped with typical winter demands, seasonal infections, and respiratory illnesses, so this storm adds an extra layer of stress.
Health experts are urging folks to be cautious if they have to travel or head to hospital appointments. If you’re scheduled for a hospital visit, don’t skip it unless you hear directly from healthcare officials. Keep an eye on local health service updates and utilise NHS 111 Wales, minor injury units, and pharmacies for any medical needs you can handle quickly.

While you’re out and about, bundle up and choose your footwear wisely to avoid icy slips. And don’t forget to check in on elderly neighbours or those living alone, as they’re at a higher risk for hypothermia and falls in this freezing weather.

Stay safe, stay warm, and let’s look out for each other! ☃️💙
