After a comprehensive review, the MHRA now warns these drugs might be linked to sexual dysfunction, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. New warnings are being added to product info, emphasising that sexual dysfunction might also contribute to mood disorders.

Dr Alison Cave, the MHRA’s Chief Safety Officer, highlights the importance of this update: “We’ve strengthened the product information to ensure patients are fully informed about potential risks and can discuss these with healthcare professionals.”

👉 What you need to do:
– If you’re on finasteride and experience mood changes or suicidal thoughts, stop treatment immediately and reach out to a healthcare professional.
– For any sexual side effects or concerns, don’t hesitate to discuss them with your doctor.
– Report any suspected side effects through the MHRA’s Yellow Card scheme.

Remember, your health is the top priority. Stay informed and talk openly with your healthcare provider about your treatment options. 🩺💬
