Meet Rhys Llewellyn, a remarkable father from Aberdare, who has defied the odds not once but twice. Against all odds, he has survived two heart transplants, allowing him to live a life many feared he wouldn’t have.

In 2019, as Rhys was placed back on the transplant waiting list due to complications with his donor heart, his son Albi was born. Just over a year later, Rhys received his second life-saving transplant. However, the joy of recovery was dulled by the devastating news that his precious son inherited the same heart condition.

“For me, the worst day ever was learning Albi had the same condition,” Rhys admits. Knowing the challenges and uncertainties ahead for Albi is heart-wrenching. Despite everything, Rhys remains positive and cherishes every moment with Albi, who is currently doing well. 🌟

With Father’s Day looming, Rhys is urging everyone to have the talk about organ donation with their loved ones and register on the NHS Organ Donor List. 🫀 “It would mean everything, knowing more people agree to organ donation. It could save lives like mine and hopefully Albi’s.”
