💔 Heartbreak for Welsh Rugby Stars in France! 💔
In a shocking twist of events, the Welsh rugby contingent at Nissa Rugby are left devastated as their promotion to France’s Pro D2 league has been blocked. The decision came after French rugby’s financial watchdog, A2R, pulled the plug on Nissa’s rise due to financial uncertainties.
Just months ago, Nissa Rugby had their dreams realized, triumphing in the play-off final against Stade Montois. But now, the thrill has turned to despair for head coach Gareth Baber, assistant coach Barry Maddocks, and players like Tyler Morgan and Owen Williams, who played pivotal roles in securing their promotion.
The root of the upset? A financial backing withdrawal by Nice’s city council, leading to a halt in essential stadium renovations. The setback has caused a shake-up at the club’s top level, with president Jean-Baptiste Aldige and association president Patrice Prevot stepping down.
Nissa Rugby now has 15 days to overturn the decision or face remaining in the third-tier Nationale league, as Stade Montois eagerly awaits the chance to reclaim their Pro D2 spot.
Stay tuned for the latest updates as Nissa strategize their next move. Will they appeal, or will it be farewell to their Pro D2 dreams for now? Keep supporting our Welsh rugby stars as they navigate these challenging times. 🏉💥
