Heartbreaking news as Steve Jones, affectionately known as Steve Peg, tragically passed away in a forestry accident. This beloved 36-year-old dad-of-two from Cynwyd, living in Acrefair, was well-regarded in the forestry industry and adored by family and friends alike.

Steve leaves behind his devoted wife, Emma, and their cherished children, Cai and Ffion. His loving wife expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, “I want to thank everyone for all their support and kindness. Everyone has been amazing.”
A Just Giving campaign set up in Steve’s honour has already raised around £30,000, showing the community’s incredible generosity to help with funeral costs and support the family. Steve’s brother Mike shared his heartfelt appreciation, calling Steve the “best big brother anyone could want.”

Friend Lee Parry, who initiated the fundraiser, lamented the loss of this “lovable rogue” who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He highlighted Steve’s larger-than-life personality, which will be sorely missed. Lee also added, “Our hearts are broken by the loss of our beloved friend Peg. The community’s overwhelming kindness is a testament to Steve’s character.”
Steve’s funeral is scheduled for July 3 at 3pm at Pentrebychan Crematorium, where attendees are encouraged to wear hunting clothes or whatever makes them comfortable, eschewing formal suits as Steve would have preferred. Refreshments will follow at Tower Hill Barns.

If you’d like to contribute to the fundraiser, the page remains open until July 6. Every donation helps Emma and their children during this incredibly tough time. Let’s send Steve off with the love and respect he so richly deserves. 🌲💚
