If you’re heading to Gnoll Country Park in Neath, be on the lookout for some unexpected visitors! Local resident Beth Morgan-Parsons shared her surprise encounter with hundreds of tiny froglets dotting the paths near the visitor centre. 🐸🌱

Beth, who regularly walks in the park, first noticed the miniature amphibians after a few circuits around the pond. β€œI thought, β€˜What’s that?’ and got down to floor level to find these tiny creatures,” she said. These little frog explorers are fresh from their ponds, and Beth urges everyone to watch where they tread!

The frogs, each about the size of a fingernail, have recently hatched from tadpoles. According to the Wildlife Trust, once tadpoles develop lungs, they start venturing out but stay close to their native waters. As they mature, their diets expand to include flies, slugs, and snails.

Beth fondly recalls seeing similar scenes as a child but never at this particular pond. She and the park caretaker are working to make folks aware of the froglets. So if you’re out for a stroll at Gnoll, keep your eyes peeled and your steps careful! 🐸🌿

Let’s help these young froglets get to where they need to go safely, and enjoy this unique natural spectacle as they hop into the great unknown! 🌍✨
