Thankfully, all inside were safely evacuated, and the cherished old bar, along with much of the treasured memorabilia, escaped destruction. However, the dining room hasn’t fared so well and is almost entirely ruined. Firefighters were on the scene promptly, doing their best to contain the blaze, but the extent of the damage left everyone in shock.

The owners, Tom and Sarah Watts-Jones, who breathed new life into the pub back in 2015, are heartbroken yet determined to rebuild. Sarah shared, “It’s almost been a grieving process as we’ve realised sentimental things that we’ve lost that can never be replaced.” Despite the setback, the family plans to restore and reopen as soon as possible, relying on the overwhelming support and unity of the local community to carry them through.
