🌟 Wild Thursday Drama in Briton Ferry! 🌟
A routine delivery took a shocking turn yesterday afternoon in Briton Ferry! 🚚💥 A delivery van was allegedly stolen and crashed into a parked car, flipping over in the process. The van driver, who was reportedly trying to stop the theft, ended up in hospital but is thankfully okay.
Here’s what went down: The drama unfolded on Regent Street West between 3 and 3:30 pm. A delivery driver briefly stepped out, and that’s when an opportunist allegedly hopped in to make a speedy getaway. However, the joyride didn’t last long. The stolen van collided with a parked black Ford Focus, overturned, and chaos ensued.
The unlucky owner of the Focus, Ben Rogers, recounts the bizarre moment: “I was working from home when I got a message saying someone crashed into my car. By the time I got outside, there was a van on its side, paramedics everywhere, and my car was a total mess.”
In a twist of fate, Ben reflects, “If my car hadn’t stopped it, the van might have crashed into my house or sped down the street just as kids were getting out of school. It’s not ideal, but it could’ve been far worse.”
Ben’s car is a write-off, and his partner’s car didn’t escape unscathed either, thanks to flying debris. The couple, who’ve just moved into their new house, are understandably shaken.
Sarah Davies, Briton Ferry town councillor, described the incident as an attempted robbery and advised locals to avoid the area due to road closures. So, if you’re planning to pass by Church Street, better take a detour!
Let’s all hope for a swift recovery for everyone involved and maybe think twice before leaving our engines running in the future! 🚗💨 Stay safe out there, folks!
