James McClean made waves with his heartfelt farewell to Wrexham FC and a special shout-out to owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. After 108 appearances and two glorious promotions, the former captain of the Red Dragons has decided to return home to Derry City. Although game time was limited this season, McClean leaves on a high note, expressing immense gratitude for his Wrexham chapter.

In an emotional Instagram post, McClean didn’t hold back on the love, thanking everyone from the management and medical staff to the fans who warmly embraced him. He praised Reynolds and McElhenney for their remarkable leadership and even referred to Wrexham as “Disney FC,” highlighting the magic they injected into the club.

McClean shared his regret about not joining the club earlier, wishing he had been “a few years younger” to experience more of Wrexham’s unfolding journey. Despite his departure, he carries fond memories of camaraderie with his teammates and unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch.

His move comes after Wrexham’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich City, interrupting a series of wins in the Championship. Manager Phil Parkinson spoke highly of McClean’s professionalism and confirmed that Jimmy, along with his brother Patrick, will finish his career in his beloved hometown, where he always aspired to settle.
Here’s wishing James McClean all the best at Derry City! His legacy at Wrexham will be cherished by many. ⚽❤️
