🎉✨ Drag sensation Carrie Sauce from Cardiff has officially made history! 🎤✨ The 31-year-old lit up the stage on S4C’s Y Llais, becoming the first-ever drag performer to win any edition of The Voice globally! Originally from Somerset, Carrie, also known as Oliver Martin, embraced the Welsh language, turning this journey into a true labour of love. Inspired by a friend’s experience on the show, Carrie tackled the challenge of singing in Welsh head-on, proving that language isn’t a barrier to fantastic talent! 🌟
Despite the nerves and a silent walk onto the stage that left Carrie second-guessing everything from hair to shoes, once they started singing, the magic was undeniable. All four judges turned around, instantly mesmerised. Carrie chose to join Team Bryn, hoping to create a powerful duet, and sure enough, their voices blended magnificently in the final performance!
Breaking barriers and inspiring many, Carrie has truly set the stage alight for others, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community. They hope to encourage more diversity in the arts, showcasing that talent shines through, no matter the language or the gender behind the sparkly dress.
Carrie’s journey in S4C’s Y Llais is not just about winning; it’s about representation and learning. From practising Welsh to wowing audiences nationwide, they’ve inspired countless fans to embrace their identities and passions wholeheartedly. They’re just getting started, with upcoming performances set for Cardiff and Abergavenny Pride events.
Whether performing as Carrie or Oliver, the stage is their playground, and we just can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next. 🌍❤️ Whether it’s thrilling Pride crowds or maybe even gracing the Eurovision stage one day, the spotlight belongs to Carrie, and rightly so! 🏆🎶
