A sex offender has died in custody while serving time at Parc Prison. Robert Wheeler, 79, had been sentenced in 2022 to 12 and a half years for the horrific sexual abuse of a young boy and girl during the 1980s. He passed away in an outside hospital on May 30. As with all such cases, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will carry out an investigation into the circumstances of his death. The exact cause of death remains undisclosed at this time.
Wheeler’s crimes were only reported to the authorities in 2019 when one of the victims bravely came forward, leading to his conviction.
