A man’s attempt to hide crack cocaine and heroin inside a bacon roll might sound like something out of a comedy, but it’s no laughing matter for Cardiff’s Craig Jones. During a proactive patrol in Callaghan Square, South Wales Police officers spotted Jones, 41, involved in a suspicious deal.

Upon being detained, Jones tried to hide a small package in his trousers, then casually tossed it aside. Officers quickly seized a total of twelve wraps, confirmed to contain crack cocaine and heroin. But the plot thickened after a deeper dive into Jones’ belongings. Inside his room, officers discovered a plastic pot jam-packed with 36 more wraps, cunningly stashed in a bacon roll!

Following these discoveries and a review of his phone revealing messages of drug dealings, Jones faced the court and received a three-year prison sentence. Inspector Gareth Handy emphasised the ongoing efforts of the Cardiff Bay neighbourhood policing team in their mission to keep the streets safe and tackle drug crimes. He pointed out the devastating impact of illegal substances on individuals, families, and communities.
