🚆✨ Exciting news for South Wales! The massive new train depot at Taff’s Well has officially opened its doors and it’s set to transform travel across the region. This impressive £100m South Wales Metro Depot will house 36 brand-new, shiny tram-trains, ushering in a fresh era for transport in Cardiff and beyond. 🌟

Expected to hit the tracks next year, these tram-trains will offer more reliable, faster, and greener journeys across the South Wales Valleys. The ambitious South Wales Metro project, often called “the Welsh tube,” includes electrifying 170km of railway and upgrading stations, promising a seamless and efficient commute. 🚊
Not only is the project enhancing travel, but it’s also bringing local benefits—think 400 new jobs in the area! Plus, they’ve introduced a nifty tap-on, tap-off ticketing system, making travelling easier than ever.

Construction began on this 12-acre site back in 2019, with extensive work like demolishing the old Forgemasters site and upgrading Taff’s Well station. Platforms have been extended and a new footbridge installed, replacing the one from 1879. Big changes for the better! 🏗️
The opening ceremony was a star-studded affair with First Minister Eluned Morgan and Transport for Wales CEO James Price in attendance, marking a huge milestone for the community. 🚀
