🕵️♂️ **Investigation Underway After Tragic Hospital Case** 🙏

The unexpected death of Donald Gough, a 77-year-old cancer patient, at University Hospital of Wales has sparked a police investigation. Mr. Gough passed away in November 2022, following liver surgery meant to have a low risk of complications. During an inquest, it was revealed that the likely cause of his death was low blood sugar due to insulin, but the circumstances remain unclear. 😟

Consultant anaesthetist Dr. Benjamin Holst was brought to tears as he recounted the events, admitting that exhaustion may have influenced the quality of care post-surgery. He shared his struggles with mental health and his lapse in responsibility after the operation, stating, “I dropped Mr Gough in recovery and went home.” 🏥
Dr. Holst, along with other medical professionals involved, denied administering insulin, emphasising the improbability of unauthorised access during surgery. The inquest also heard from junior surgeon Dr. Gerard McKnight, who had taken photos of Mr. Gough’s liver for educational purposes, sparking further controversy. 📸
Dr. Giorgio Alessandri, the consultant surgeon leading the operation, and others, assured the court they followed all protocols and had no knowledge of insulin being given. The mystery behind the insulin remains, with legal discussions ongoing. ⚖️
Our thoughts go out to Mr. Gough’s family during this difficult time. 💔 The hearing continues as everyone awaits more answers on this perplexing case. Stay tuned for updates. 📢
