🚨 Over 70 New Child Abuse Charges in Shocking Investigation 🚨

Two men are now facing over 70 charges for alleged child abuse at the former Coed Glas Assessment Centre in Monmouthshire. Angus Riddell, 69, and Robin Griffiths, 66, are at the centre of this heart-wrenching investigation.
The story so far: Riddell and Griffiths had already been charged with 45 offences, but recent revelations have led to 26 additional charges. Riddell’s latest charges include two counts of the rape of a female under 16 and several indecent assaults, while Griffiths faces further charges of indecent assaults on young boys.

The charges come after extensive police work as part of Operation Spinney, which is unravelling decades-old allegations of abuse from the 1970s to the 1990s. The Coed Glas Assessment Centre, closed since 1995, had been under the former Gwent Local Authority’s purview. Many adults have come forward, claiming harrowing experiences from their youth at this centre.
Additionally, two more individuals were charged earlier this month related to this case. Social worker Lisa Gething and Simon Bevan are facing charges of neglect and ill-treatment, reflecting systemic issues from the past.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Tuck of Gwent Police emphasised the importance of supporting victims: “We urge anyone who has suffered or knows someone who may be suffering to come forward. We will listen and ensure support is available.”
As the case unfolds, both men are on bail, with court appearances scheduled soon. The trial is set for January 2027, promising to shed light on these disturbing allegations. Victims and community members hope for justice and healing as this investigation progresses. 💔
