Shocking news from the Six Nations! A fire in Ireland has left the iconic Six Nations Championship trophy so badly damaged it can never be used again. The incident occurred while the trophy was being transported from Limerick to Dublin after the third round of matches. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the prized silverware didn’t fare so well. Photos have surfaced showing the trophy scorched and in the hands of someone on the roadside.

The show must go on, though! Six Nations officials have announced a new trophy will be crafted with some parts of the original incorporated into the design as a nod to its legacy. This new masterpiece will be ready for next year’s tournament after an impressive 365 hours of skilled craftsmanship.

While we wait for the new trophy, this year’s champions will receive an identical exhibition version often used in major sports events. The original trophy was crafted in 2015, standing an impressive 75cm tall, made from precious silver, and has been part of rugby history ever since. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, this incident adds another chapter to its storied past.
Stay tuned for more updates and let’s cheer on our teams as they continue to battle it out in one of the world’s most prestigious rugby tournaments! 🏆✨
