📺 Big shake-up on the telly! This weekend’s buzzworthy England vs South Africa rugby clash won’t be airing on ITV1 as expected. Instead, it’s swapping to ITV4, while ITV1 sticks with Tipping Point and World Cup footie coverage. 🏉😲
England’s team, led by Steve Borthwick, is gearing up to face the Springboks in Johannesburg in the much-anticipated Nations Championships opener, the new £500m competition that has fans on the edge of their seats! But despite the heart-pounding potential of this showdown, ITV has prioritised other programmes on its main channel.
Fret not, rugby fans! You can catch all the action on ITV4. Coverage kicks off just 20 minutes before the match starts at 4.40pm BST. Meanwhile, ITV1 will air Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals and news updates before switching to the FIFA World Cup where Canada takes on Morocco in a nail-biting match scheduled for 6pm BST.
Though some might be bummed about the channel switch, sources highlight that fans still have unparalleled free access to international rugby. This summer, ITV is truly the sports hub for UK fans, offering extensive coverage of rugby and football World Cup matches.
As for our mates in South Africa, reports suggest that Ellis Park could see fewer fans than expected, with ticket sales struggling to hit the 61,000-seat capacity. Fingers crossed for a last-minute surge, but it’s an exciting time for rugby nonetheless!
