What an incredible day at the 2026 TCS London Marathon! The final finishers received the ultimate hero’s welcome at St James’ Park, proving that every runner’s journey is worth celebrating. Energised crowds cheered as participants like Hannah Gavios, Taiwo Fabusiwa, and Luke Escreet crossed the finish line with determination and heart.
Hannah Gavios, a courageous woman who survived a life-altering spinal cord injury, completed her first marathon outside of New York on crutches. Her journey has been a testimony to her belief that “there’s always a way.” Taiwo Fabusiwa, living with cerebral palsy, was alongside four participants pushing her wheelchair—turning her dream into reality. Taiwo shared her gratitude for the crowd’s immense support, encouraging others with disabilities to pursue their passions: “If I can do it, you can. Just do it; it’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.”
Luke Escreet, running in remembrance of his nan and to support Macmillan Cancer Support, pushed through the infamous “wall” to honour his loved one and achieve his personal goal. Cheered by a sea of supporters, each runner embodied perseverance and triumph.
The atmosphere was electric thanks to the dedicated CLIF Bar Support Team and the spirited Team Finish Together volunteers. They ensured every runner, from first to last, felt the community’s love and motivation. As Bianca Harvey from CLIF Bar said, these participants are the ‘true endurance champions’, exemplifying the human spirit’s resilience and the essence of community support.
The celebration doesn’t stop at the finish line. The final finishers will take centre stage on digital billboards, shining a light on their extraordinary feat for all of London to see. This marathon was about more than crossing a line; it was about courage, community, and achieving something extraordinary together. Whether you cheered from the sidelines or tackled the course, thank you for making this year’s marathon a truly unforgettable experience! 🏅🎉 #LondonMarathon #EnduranceChampions #Inspiration
