What a night for Wales Women! 🌟 With a fantastic 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic, they’ve topped their World Cup qualifying group in style at Cardiff City Stadium. The atmosphere was electric as 5,607 fans cheered the team to success! 🎉
Goals from Lily Woodham, Gemma Evans, and Mared Griffiths sealed the deal, ensuring that Rhian Wilkinson’s side have a smoother path in the play-offs as they aim for a spot in Brazil’s World Cup next year. Topping Group B1 now means they’ll face a lower-ranked League B team in the upcoming semi-final draw. Not only that, but this triumph also marks their promotion back to League A! 🏆
The Czech Republic took the early lead, but Woodham quickly equalised, celebrating her 50th cap in style. Evans then put Wales ahead with a powerful header, assisted by Ceri Holland, who later set up Griffiths for the third goal.
All eyes are now on the draw later this month as Wales Women continue their quest for a historic first World Cup appearance. Fingers crossed! 🤞⚽
