Exciting news for Barry Rugby Football Club! This historic club, boasting stunning views of the Severn Estuary, is set for a significant transformation with plans submitted to the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The proposal includes extending the clubhouse, adding a brand-new gym, and upgrading the changing rooms. There’s also potential for a pitch enclosure and a multi-use overspill car park right on the existing site. 🌳🏉

The club, known as a beloved social venue and home to the Bombers who compete in the WRU Admiral National League 1 East Central, could soon see a slew of eco-friendly upgrades, including new poplar trees and natural woodland planting featuring alder and hawthorn along the perimeter. This nod to nature is sure to enhance the club’s scenic charm. 🌿

If the plans get the green light, we’ll see a 139sqm gym, new changing rooms of 129sqm, a 43sqm viewing porch, and a 230sqm store/cellar. All in all, that’s a sizable 628sqm expansion! 📏
Famous former players like Geoff Beckingham and Barry Davies started their careers here, and even comedian Mike Bubbins took to the junior pitch back in the day. With its roots digging back to 1887 when it was known as Cadoxton Football Club, this venue holds a treasured place in local rugby history. 🏆
The future looks bright for Barry Rugby Football Club! Let’s hope the council gives the thumbs up so this community gem can continue to thrive and offer even more to its players and fans. Stay tuned for updates! 🙌
