One of the UK’s big players in car parking, National Car Parks (NCP), has hit a massive roadblock. Due to continuous “trading losses,” they’ve gone into administration, putting nearly 700 jobs and hundreds of car park locations at risk! 😱
Why, you ask? It seems post-Covid life hasn’t brought back pre-Covid car park crowds. Fewer folks parking in city centres and commuter spots left NCP struggling with costs and contracts. So, what’s next? PwC administrators are stepping in to figure out NCP’s fate. Upshot: we might see some closures or even a sale of the entire setup. 🤔
Currently, NCP is still running, but with the future up in the air, those using NCP lots or relying on them in places like Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, and Barry might need to start exploring alternatives. 🏢
