🚗💨 Have Your Say on Speed Limits in Rhondda Cynon Taf! 🚦

Heads up, drivers and locals! There’s a buzz in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area as the council launches a consultation on changing the speed limit on 26 roads back to 30mph from the default 20mph. This change is part of a broader review, considering feedback from last summer’s “listening period” with residents.
Why the change? The Welsh Government introduced a 20mph default speed limit across all local authorities back in September 2023 to boost safety. However, some locations like the A4059 at Penderyn, Swansea Road in Hirwaun, and Upper Boat Roundabout, among others, are now under review to possibly switch back to 30mph. If approved, these roads will join 84 other locations that had kept their 30mph limit, making a total of 110 exceptions!

🗣️ RCT Council is eager to hear from YOU! They believe this consultation will help fine-tune the approach, ensuring it aligns with community needs while maintaining safety for all road users. This is your chance to influence local roads and make your voice heard!
🗓️ The consultation kicked off on Monday, September 22, and runs until Monday, October 13. The council plans to finalise decisions by the end of the financial year, aiming for public safety without compromising on efficiency.
Whether you’re a driver, cyclist, or pedestrian, your input can shape the traffic landscape of RCT! Get involved and let the council know your thoughts about the proposed speed adjustments. 🌟
