🔍 London’s Murder Rate Hits Record Low! 🌆

Great news from our capital! London’s murder rate has dropped to its lowest since records began. In 2025, there were 97 homicides recorded, marking an 11% decrease from the previous year. With a homicide rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, London is safer than many major cities, including New York, Berlin, and Paris.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley attributes this achievement to the hard work of his team. They’re arresting more offenders and utilising technology like live facial recognition to crack down on crime. Precise actions against dangerous gangs and criminals have also contributed to this positive trend.
Sir Mark Rowley states, “Fewer lives lost, fewer families shattered. We’ll keep using every tool to reduce serious violence.” He’s determined to counter critics by letting the data speak for itself, underscoring his commitment to transparency and truth in this age of misinformation.
Additionally, London has seen significant advancements in reducing youth violence, with the lowest number of young victims this century and a 73% reduction in teenage victimisation since 2021.
London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan champions these results, attributing them to the city’s approach of being tough on crime and its causes. His violence reduction unit, established in 2019, has delivered 550,000 interventions to steer young people away from gang involvement.
Rising public confidence in the Met, with 81% of Londoners viewing the force positively, highlights the community’s acknowledgment of their efforts. However, a recent vetting review revealed past lapses in police recruitment. The Met is taking steps to address these issues, proving their commitment to maintaining trust and integrity.
Londoners can take pride in these strides towards safety and community well-being! 🌟 #London #SaferLondon #CommunitySafety
