🚧 Heads up, drivers! 🚧 A structural defect on the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road has led to a temporary lane closure westbound between Clydach and Brynmawr. This safety measure comes after the issue was flagged during a routine inspection.

Transport officials assure us that repair works are underway on the Clydach Gorge Viaduct, and they’re aiming to lift the restrictions as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Peter Fox, the Member of the Senedd for Sir Fynwy, is pushing for a comprehensive check of the road from Gilwern to Brynmawr to ensure no other surprises crop up.

This stretch of road has been the subject of much discussion; originally pegged as a major success, it opened in November 2021 after significant delays and budget overruns. It’s infamous for being the most expensive road project ever undertaken in Wales, with costs soaring to £336m.
Fox highlighted past issues, including concerns about the surface and lack of a hard shoulder. He emphasises the need for a full road assessment to catch any more potential problems that could affect motorists.
Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops! ⛔️🚗
