Absolutely shocking case unfolds in Swansea! Jason Brooks, who thought he was chatting with 14-year-old girls, was actually messaging adults from a paedophile hunter group. This 47-year-old sent inappropriate and explicit messages, claiming he was “naked, stoned, and horny”, never realising he was talking to decoys.

At Swansea Crown Court, Brooks denied any sexual interest in young girls and attempted to blame social media. However, the court didn’t buy his excuses. Despite his claims, he was sentenced to 16 months in prison suspended for 24 months, with mandatory rehab and alcohol monitoring. Further, he’s now a registered sex offender for the next decade.

Brooks’ past record includes 48 prior convictions for 143 offences. Clearly, a history of trouble didn’t deter his disturbing actions. Despite his brain injury in 2022 affecting his communication skills, there’s no ignoring his actions.
The community is understandably angry and Brooks admitted he couldn’t go home due to this. Yet, his lawyer assured the court he accepts the suspended sentence and the conditions that come with it. Let’s hope justice serves as a warning and protects those genuinely vulnerable. Stay safe online, folks.
