A 71-year-old man from Wrexham has been sentenced to over eight years in prison for shocking acts committed over decades. David Peers was found guilty of indecent assaults against two underage girls.

In a disturbing revelation, Peers had sexual encounters with a girl on the same day his wife was giving birth. These incidents occurred in the 1980s when he would regularly meet his first victim in secluded areas or at his home. Later, he targeted another young girl, 21 years his junior, with a similar pattern of grooming and abuse.

The court heard how Peers coerced his first victim into sexual acts, leaving her feeling isolated and mentally scarred for years. The second victim’s education and personal life were severely affected, with Peers threatening to expose intimate photos, which contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.
Peers admitted to multiple offences, including indecent assault and gross indecency. Despite his poor health, his actions have left a lasting impact on his victims, Judge Timothy Petts remarked. Alongside his prison sentence, Peers faces lifelong restrictions, including registration on the sexual offenders list and restraining orders to protect his victims.
These brave women shared their painful journeys, illustrating the far-reaching consequences of Peers’ actions. Their experiences are a stark reminder of the critical importance of safeguarding and supporting young people in vulnerable situations.
