🚨 Newport Man Jailed for ISIS Support 🚨
Shazad Ali, a 21-year-old from Newport, has been handed a five-year prison sentence for his involvement with ISIS. Ali admitted to multiple terrorism offences including supporting ISIS, promoting terrorism, and possessing documents useful to terrorists.
In January 2025, authorities raided his home and found a digital collection of extremist materials. Further investigation revealed Ali had shared radical Islamist videos online. These actions sparked a lengthy investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing Wales, concluding Ali was a significant threat to public safety.
At his sentencing on 6th March, Bristol Crown Court also imposed an additional two years on extended licence. Detective Chief Inspector Leanne Williams highlighted the importance of community vigilance, noting, “Reporting won’t ruin lives, but it could save them.”
