🚨 Disturbing Incident in Newport 🚨

In a shocking outburst, Richard McLoughlin, 51, wreaked havoc in his shared Newport home, smashing crockery and unleashing vile threats. Shouting racial slurs, he demanded his housemates “go back to their own country” and threatened to slit their throats. This terrifying ordeal unfolded on March 28, when McLoughlin, after breaking a plate, turned violent, threatening to break a housemate’s jaw for trying to intervene.

The situation escalated, with McLoughlin attempting to enter a housemate’s room, prompting the occupant to desperately hold the door shut. Another resident, disturbed by the chaos, awoke to his threats: “I will slit your throats, I have a knife.” The chilling incident led to his arrest, but not before McLoughlin refused to be interviewed by a “non-white” officer, continuing his racist tirade.

Appearing in Cardiff Crown Court, McLoughlin pleaded guilty to multiple charges including threatening a person with a weapon, racially aggravated harassment, and threats to kill. With 18 previous convictions, his history of violence came back to haunt him.
Despite his lawyer’s mitigation citing alcohol consumption as a factor, Judge Simon Hughes handed McLoughlin a 21-month prison sentence. This case highlights the ongoing struggle against hate crimes and the importance of community solidarity.
