An 18-year-old, Aiden Williams, was clocked flying down the road on his scooter at a mind-boggling 60mph in a 20mph zone in Johnstown, Wrexham. In a shocking twist, he collided with a pedestrian, sending her soaring ten feet into the air. Tragically, the victim, Emma Jones, sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket and needed lengthy medical care.

Aiden’s wild ride didn’t stop there—he fled the scene, dodging through local wildlife ponds, before being caught hiding in a garden. He later penned a Batman-themed apology letter to Emma, admitting, “I’m not a monster, although I feel like one right now.”

Despite his remorse, the court wasn’t as forgiving. The judge slapped him with an 18-month stint in a young offenders’ institution and banned him from driving for nearly three years. His daredevil antics cost him dearly and left a woman with lasting damage.
Emma had been out shopping before the crash and was crossing the road when the Yamaha scooter struck her. Despite some quick-thinking bystanders, including an off-duty nurse, Aiden and his passenger fled, throwing his gear in a dramatic escape.
Emma’s road to recovery hasn’t been easy with wounds deep enough to expose bone and a fractured eye socket leading to double vision. Her ordeal led to panic attacks and time off work, changing her life drastically. As for Aiden, he admits his youth and impulsivity got the better of him, underlined by his choice of stationery.
The case has certainly highlighted the dangers of reckless driving and pushed authorities to ensure our roads are safe for everyone. As Aiden faces the consequences of his actions, we hope for a speedy recovery for Emma and lessons learned all around. Stay safe and keep an eye out, folks!
