🚨 Shocking incident in Cardiff city centre! A 19-year-old, Khoresh Ameni, was caught on CCTV swinging a machete outside the Ibis hotel on Churchill Way. This incident occurred last December and made headlines again as Ameni recently faced sentencing.

When police arrived on the scene, Ameni was not only armed with the machete but also found with a cannabis joint. During questioning, he chose to remain silent. CCTV footage showed that other individuals involved were also armed. Ameni pleaded guilty to possessing both a bladed weapon and cannabis.

With a past conviction for serious offences, Ameni is certainly no stranger to the courtroom. Prosecutors noted that he’s previously breached a 20-month detention and training order. In court, his defence shared that Ameni’s tough upbringing and struggles due to his immigration status led him down this path. Despite these circumstances, Judge Paul Lewis KC issued a stern warning, telling Ameni that he faces longer prison terms if he continues on this violent route.
The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, emphasising the ongoing risk his behaviour poses. Let’s hope this serves as a turning point for him. Stay safe, Cardiff! 🛡️
