🔥Devastating Blaze in Ferndale Leaves Homes and Lives in Ruins!🔥

Shocking scenes unfolded in the Valleys as a fiery explosion lit up Protheroe Street, Ferndale. Giant flames swallowed a home and spread to cars parked nearby, all due to a sinister arson attack over a drug debt. The nightmare began when four men travelled from Weston-super-Mare and targeted 82-year-old Carol Ford’s home, pouring petrol through her letterbox and smashing a window to spread more.

South Wales Police released harrowing footage showing officers urgently evacuating the street amid the blaze’s chaos, described as a “large evacuation process.” The fire not only destroyed Ms Ford’s home of over 60 years but also gutted several cars and caused serious damage to neighbouring properties. Fortunately, Ms Ford managed to escape in time, although all she could salvage was her set of false teeth.

In a recent court ruling, Alfie Wheeler, Auryn Gustur, Connor Pitt, and Lewis Manito were all sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court. The attack, fuelled by a £137,000 drug debt owed by Ms Ford’s grandsons, Matthew and Gavin Ford, led to horrifying repercussions for the peaceful neighbourhood.
Pitt, Gustur, and Wheeler pleaded guilty to arson with intent to endanger life, while Manito admitted arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered. He was also charged for perverting the course of justice after disposing of the vehicle they used. The men received lengthy sentences ranging from 9 to 18 years.
The heart-wrenching tale reminds us of the destructive power of fire and the far-reaching impacts of crime. Ms Ford’s victim statement was truly impactful, highlighting how irreplaceable memories were lost in the devastating inferno.
👮♂️ Kudos to the brave police and fire crews who acted swiftly to protect lives and limit the destruction. Let’s hope for justice and healing for the community of Ferndale. ❤️🔥
