**Massive Fire Engulfs Ship at Newport Docks! 🔥🚢**
Early Sunday morning, a dramatic scene unfolded at Newport Docks as a massive blaze broke out on the Nord Houston, a bulk carrier loaded with 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal. Smoke was visible for miles, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Firefighters from across south Wales swiftly arrived at the scene around 5:30 am. Equipped with five pumping appliances, two aerial platforms, and special units, the crew launched an intense battle against the flames. Using drones for aerial views, they expertly managed to surround the fire, ensuring it didn’t spread further.
A spokesperson from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service reassured the public: “There’s no immediate risk to life or nearby properties.” They’re working hand-in-hand with various agencies to manage the situation and assess any environmental impact.
While Newport buzzes with this unexpected event, people are urged to steer clear of the docks as the operation continues. Kudos to our brave firefighters for their tireless efforts in keeping the community safe! 🙌
Stay safe out there, Newport!
