An extra 53,000 low-income households are about to see some much-needed relief on their water bills, thanks to updates in the WaterSure help scheme. 🚰💧

The expansion means households receiving disability living allowance, attendance allowance, or personal independence payments (PIP) could now qualify for bill savings—provided their income is below £25,745 per year. 🌟

Why is this a big deal? Well, previously, 260,000 households were benefiting from this scheme, saving on average £325 annually, and now even more families can join them. Plus, the need to pay for a doctor’s note is gone, making the process smoother than ever! ✨💪

Who can apply? If you have a water meter and a high usage due to medical conditions or if you have three or more kids at home, you’re in luck! Most households already in the scheme could even save an extra £100.

Water Minister Emma Hardy highlights, “These reforms will provide crucial support to vulnerable households battling the cost-of-living pressures.”

Mike Keil from the Consumer Council for Water cheers on these changes, saying they’ll ease the burden for households using a lot of water out of necessity.

And James Taylor from the disability charity Scope throws a big thumbs up, acknowledging how essential this is for disabled families who face steep water costs due to frequent washing needs or home medical procedures.

It’s all about making life a bit more affordable and manageable. Here’s to a brighter future with fairer water bills! 💦✨
